The 2024 North High School’s Hmong New Year was a success! On Friday, November 15, 5pm-8pm, the community celebrated cultural pride with a series of activities, musical performances, and dance routines. With the help of North’s and Memorial’s Hmong Club, it took eight weeks to plan this phenomenal event. The Eboard of Hmong Club and the committees contributed their hard work into making this event possible. The Eboard expresses their gratitude to everyone that helped, and says that they’re pleased everything went smoothly and that everyone was able to enjoy themselves that night.
The president of Hmong Club, Tony Lee, states, “North’s Hmong New Year went really well this year! It took months to prepare everything and it all paid off. I want to thank HAPT Hmong Club, Hmong 2, Max Khang, and everyone else for making this all possible! We’re grateful to host this event for the community to see and learn about our culture! That goes along with showing our Hmong clothes, food, dance, and singing. By hosting this event annually, we can preserve our culture for future generations, and share our traditions with the community!”
The amazing singers that performed were Koua Lor and Max Khang and the incredible dancers performed there were Viv Ncaus Txhawb, Astrid Stars, Paj Dej Nag, and Kaily Xiong, who had a solo.
As North’s Hmong New Year continues each year, we all look forward to more people to show up and have fun! Events like this not only show off the Hmong culture but also bring the community together. It’s important to keep traditions alive and thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this event happen!
