On Friday, December 20th, students had the opportunity to participate in the Winter Carnival activities before going off on winter break. There were lots of different activities for everyone to have fun with. Here are some!
Slime Time by Grace Her
One of the many activities that were present at the winter carnival was the relaxation and slime crafts in Ms. Vs’ Classroom. Although there were many messes and spills, the crowded classroom was filled with fun, students, and slime. Mr. Olson who came to join in the fun said, “There’s a lot of Old Abes that are getting some choice in finding something that they enjoy. Kind of like a relaxing way to get in to break here, but so far, the slime station that I am at right now is one of the busiest and most exciting ones!” What a wonderful and popular idea that was managed by Ms. V!
Other students said, “It’s really fun and just hanging out with your friends while making it makes it just like relaxing and fun just to talk to everyone.” Thank you to our administrator for also providing so much glue and being generous with the amounts given to each student. Each student was provided with a good bowl of glue and many add-ins like food dye, and glitter. For creating such an enjoyable experience for the many students, and many friend groups mentioning “I LOVE SLIME!”, let’s hope that this activity can happen again next year!
Hot Chocolate and Popcorn by Natalie Jones
One of the activities that students engaged in was the giving out of hot chocolate and popcorn in the gym lobby and in the library hallway. At both stations, there were lines for the treats. Students could quickly grab some hot chocolate and head to another activity or stay and chat with their friends in the gym lobby!
Board games and movies with Ms. Goetz By Nico Wheeler
Several classic games on Ms. Goetz’s shelf were set up across the whole room, games such as: Uno, Apples to apples, monopoly, and many more. While The Polar Express played on the projector as a chill background vibe. Everybody had a blast and people had the ability to do anything they wanted entertainment wise. In all, I would personally rate the experience a 10/10, deuces.
