Among Old Abes found still in the building following the final bell, the resounding reason is that they’re “just doin’ homework” and/or waiting for a ride. But here’s who else we found on this Tuesday afternoon:
Eco Warriors
Attempted a club meeting which was cancelled. Had they had a proper meeting, they would have discussed environmental issues within Memorial and potential solutions. Their current goal is to make Memorial plastic-free.

Library People
A group of friends regularly spends time in the library following the end of the school day: “We say we’re gonna do homework, but we don’t,” says one friend, interrupted by insistent objections that homework does in fact get done—sometimes. Other than homework, the library is a great place for them to talk, do puzzles, and look at the free books, which “sometimes lasts two hours.”

Mock Trial
A tenth grade student is currently trying to establish a new Memorial Mock Trial Club. Mock Trial is a way for people to experience the legal process during high school and compete with other schools. The club should be available to join at next year’s Club Rush.

“I work with the Daktronics team and we have to upload a new video ad for the scoreboard for tonight’s game. At tonight’s game we are going to be doing the livestream and then we are also operating the Daktronics board in the gym.”
